Industry Experience
Peter Jay Perham is recognised as an Industry Professor in Building and Construction, with a career grounded in trade mastery, enterprise leadership and practical delivery across residential, commercial and industrial construction. Evidence records that he completed his carpenter and joiner apprenticeship in 1994, later adding a Diploma in Building and Construction and attaining recognition as a Chartered Building Professional member of the Australian Institute of Building. His professional practice has extended across Australia and New Zealand, progressing from hands-on trade experience to senior leadership as Director, General Manager and Commercial Construction Manager of Axiom Construction Group. Through Axiom, Peter has led work across renovations, extensions, custom builds, warehouses, manufacturing spaces, factories, animal shelters and other complex, non-standard projects. His contribution is especially evident in projects requiring practical problem-solving, regulatory understanding and tailored construction solutions, including specialist animal accommodation where sound attenuation, temperature control and operational requirements had to be translated into buildable outcomes.

As a previous Head of School – Southbank Institute of Technology, it gave me great insight into educational design, corporate client learning needs, government policy and strategies. My goal was to meet the needs of industry in regards to providing graduates who were highly trained in practical skills and employability skills. Whilst meeting the learning style of a generation that is highly engaging with communication channels, and immersed in collaboration to gain learning at their time, place and pace.
