Industry Experience
Brian Hay’s career spans over four decades of significant service and leadership in the fields of law enforcement and cyber security. With 35 years in the Queensland Police Service (QPS), culminating in his role as Detective Superintendent, he specialised in financial, identity, and cybercrime. As Commander of the QPS Fraud & Cyber Crime Group, he spearheaded state-wide responses to increasingly sophisticated cyber threats. Following his retirement from QPS, Hay transitioned into the private sector, bringing his expertise to bear as General Manager of Security at Dimension Data Australia, and subsequently as Lead CISO Advisor for the Asia-Pacific region at Unisys. Since 2017, he has served as Executive Director of Cultural Cyber Security, a consultancy he co-founded, advising organisations on managing cyber risk through cultural change and strategic oversight. His experience bridges technical security operations, public sector enforcement, executive consulting, and national strategy — offering a breadth and depth that places him among Australia’s most seasoned cyber security professionals.
