About Nilesh Singh
Nilesh Singh is a veteran technology consultant and entrepreneur with over 25 years of professional experience, including more than 20 years in the ICT sector and 16 years dedicated to consulting roles. He began his career as an accountant with Ernst & Young in Fiji, giving him a strong foundation in financial systems and business processes before transitioning into enterprise technology and management consulting across Fiji, New Zealand, and Australia.
From 2016 to 2017 he served as Regional Consulting Director (Victoria) at TechnologyOne — one of Australia’s leading enterprise software providers — overseeing all consulting services for that region. In 2017 he founded Niltech Consulting, a Melbourne-based firm that has since grown to five operational hubs across Australia and Asia (Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney, Canberra, and Malaysia), with a sixth hub planned for East Timor.
ASQA 2025 Standards — Industry Expert Definition
What is an Industry Expert under the ASQA 2025 Standards?
Under the Standards for Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) 2025, published by the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA), an Industry Expert is a person with demonstrated, current vocational skills and knowledge relevant to a training product who assists in training or assessment delivery while working under the direction of a qualified trainer/assessor. Industry Experts enhance — rather than replace — qualified trainers by providing real-world application, specialist feedback, and contextual insight.
- Role: Provide real-world application, specialist feedback, or direct support in assessment sessions.
- Requirements: Must have demonstrated, current vocational skills and knowledge directly relevant to the training product.
- Currency Evidence: Professional memberships, active industry employment, thought leadership, community engagement, and attendance at relevant networking events.
- Supervision: Must work under the guidance and direction of a qualified trainer/assessor who holds the required training and assessment credentials.
Based on a thorough review of Nilesh Singh’s professional history, the Industry Professor Association determines that he meets all criteria to serve as an Industry Expert across the units of competency identified below. His expertise is drawn from active, sustained industry practice — not academic study — making his vocational currency directly aligned with the intent of the ASQA 2025 Standards.
Identified Units of Competency
The following current units of competency — drawn from the ICT Information and Communications Technology Training Package and the BSB Business Services Training Package — have been identified as strongly aligned with Nilesh Singh’s demonstrated industry experience. All units are currently listed as Current on the Australian Government’s national training register at training.gov.au.
Gather Data to Identify Business Requirements
This unit covers the skills to identify, analyse, and document business requirements including gathering information pertinent to business strategy, reviewing current and future directions, confirming business-critical factors with stakeholders, and preparing data analysis reports.
At TechnologyOne and through Niltech Consulting, Nilesh has routinely led requirements-gathering engagements for complex enterprise software implementations across finance, human resources, and asset management domains. His role as Regional Consulting Director required him to confirm business-critical requirements directly with client stakeholders and translate them into deliverable consulting scopes — precisely the competency described by this unit.
Model Data Processes
This unit addresses the skills to model and document data processes within an organisation, including identifying data flows, designing process models, and aligning data architecture with business objectives.
A core component of Nilesh’s consulting practice is business process mapping and data integration. At Niltech he has led engagements to analyse and redesign data flows across disparate enterprise systems — including ERP, HR, and asset management platforms — ensuring data integrity and alignment with client business objectives. His expertise in TechnologyOne and Oracle NetSuite environments makes this alignment particularly strong.
Minimise Risk of New Technologies to Business Solutions
This unit describes skills required to assess and mitigate the risks that emerging and new technologies present to existing business solutions, requiring both technical and strategic knowledge of enterprise environments.
Nilesh has extensive experience evaluating new technology adoption risks as part of digital transformation projects. His work guiding client organisations through ERP upgrades, cloud migrations, and systems integration required ongoing risk assessment to protect existing business operations — a core competency addressed by this unit.
Implement Quality Assurance Processes for Business Solutions
Covers the skills to implement and manage quality assurance processes during the design and delivery of ICT business solutions, including defining quality standards, conducting reviews, and ensuring solutions meet agreed business requirements.
As Regional Consulting Director at TechnologyOne, Nilesh was responsible for ensuring all customer projects in Victoria met quality and delivery standards — including managing critical deadlines across complex, multi-stakeholder implementations. His ongoing role at Niltech involves quality assurance across client business solution deliveries, directly reflecting this unit’s performance criteria.
Manage ICT Projects
Covers the full project management lifecycle in ICT contexts — planning, executing, monitoring, and closing projects — including managing scope, time, cost, quality, and stakeholder communications within enterprise ICT environments.
Nilesh has managed numerous enterprise ICT projects throughout his career, from full ERP implementations to systems integration and digital transformation initiatives. At TechnologyOne he oversaw all consulting project delivery for the Victorian region, managing multiple simultaneous projects, teams, and client relationships — demonstrating deep proficiency in all elements of this unit.
Establish ICT Project Governance
Describes the skills and knowledge required to establish a governance framework for an ICT project within small, medium, or large organisations, applying advanced project management and organisational skills to define roles, accountability, and oversight structures.
In both his executive directorship at TechnologyOne and as CEO of Niltech, Nilesh has been responsible for establishing governance frameworks for complex, multi-stakeholder ICT projects. His experience managing multi-city, multi-country consulting operations and client engagements requires exactly the governance competency described in this unit, particularly at the advanced diploma level given his seniority.
Develop Communities of Practice
Covers skills required by senior ICT management professionals to identify areas that benefit from communities of practice and to develop, promote, and sustain those communities within organisational settings using enabling communications technologies.
Nilesh has actively developed professional communities throughout his career — coaching and mentoring consulting teams at TechnologyOne, building and growing the Niltech team across multiple offices, and sharing thought leadership publicly on LinkedIn regarding ERP best practices and integrated enterprise solutions. His community-building at Suva Grammar School further illustrates this cross-sector knowledge transfer competency.
Review Organisational Digital Strategy
Describes the skills to review an organisation’s digital strategy, assess whether it is fulfilling its objectives against relevant performance indicators, and develop and distribute recommendations to enhance digital strategy alignment with organisational goals.
Digital strategy review is at the core of Nilesh’s consulting service offering. Through Niltech, he advises client organisations on the alignment of their technology investments with business objectives — conducting assessments of existing digital ecosystems and recommending transformation pathways. His leadership of TEQSuite Global Solutions for the non-profit sector demonstrates applied digital strategy review across diverse organisational contexts.
Lead and Manage Organisational Change
Covers the skills to develop and implement change management plans, analyse internal and external environments, consult with stakeholders, and lead organisational change in support of strategic objectives.
Every major enterprise software implementation Nilesh has led involves significant organisational change management — redesigning workflows, retraining staff, and managing stakeholder resistance. His transition of the TechnologyOne Victorian consulting practice and the subsequent founding and rapid growth of Niltech Consulting are both evidence of applied change leadership at an advanced level.
Develop Organisational Strategies
Covers skills to establish strategic direction for an organisation, sustain competitive advantage, analyse markets and competitors, and implement strategic plans to drive specific organisational outcomes.
As Founder and CEO of Niltech Consulting, Nilesh has personally developed and executed the strategic plan that has expanded the firm from a Melbourne startup to a multi-national operation with five hubs in under a decade. His advisory work with client organisations on digital strategy and business process improvement further demonstrates mastery of the strategic development competency described in this unit.
Manage Project Integration
Describes skills to integrate and balance overall project management functions and to align and track project objectives against organisational goals, strategies and objectives. Applies to project leaders and managers working within an organisation or as a consultant.
Nilesh’s delivery of enterprise software implementations requires the integration of multiple project work streams — including business analysis, system configuration, data migration, testing, and training. His background managing cross-functional teams across finance, HR, and asset management domains at TechnologyOne and through Niltech directly reflects the integration competency described in this unit.
Enable Program Execution
Covers skills to establish parameters and enable a program — a suite of related projects — to be undertaken effectively, including defining program scope, establishing governance, and managing program execution. Specifically applies to program managers and consultants.
Managing a suite of concurrent client implementations — as Nilesh does at Niltech across multiple industry verticals and geographies — is precisely the “program” context described in this unit. His experience establishing Niltech’s multi-hub operational model and directing multiple project teams simultaneously demonstrates direct alignment with program execution at an advanced level.
Rationale for Recognition as Industry Expert
The Industry Professor Association’s assessment of Nilesh Singh against the ASQA 2025 Standards for Industry Experts is grounded in four key criteria: duration and depth of vocational experience, demonstrated current industry practice, peer and institutional recognition, and commitment to knowledge transfer. Each is detailed below.
Demonstrated Vocational Skills & Knowledge
With over 20 years in the ICT sector — including 16 years in hands-on consulting — Nilesh possesses deep, applied vocational knowledge across all identified competency areas. His expertise is not theoretical; it is derived from direct delivery of enterprise software projects for real clients across multiple industries and countries. He has worked with Australia’s leading enterprise software products (TechnologyOne, Oracle NetSuite) and led teams through complex implementations involving business process mapping, data integration, and change management.
Currency of Industry Knowledge
Nilesh is currently active in the enterprise consulting industry as Founder and CEO of Niltech Consulting. He is not a former practitioner — he is an active one. He continues to lead client engagements, grow his firm internationally, develop new service lines such as TEQSuite Global Solutions, and share current industry insights publicly via LinkedIn and industry media. His knowledge is current, relevant, and continuously evolving with the industry he serves.
Peer & Institutional Recognition
Colleagues and clients have described Nilesh as “a highly professional and capable business consultant.” When he founded Niltech, former colleagues voluntarily joined his venture — a strong signal of professional trust. He has been profiled in Consultancy.com.au (2024), forged corporate partnerships with Queensland Reds Rugby Union and Melbourne Victory FC, and maintains an educational partnership with Suva Grammar School. These endorsements from industry, media, sport, and education sectors demonstrate broad, multi-domain recognition.
Commitment to Knowledge Transfer & Mentoring
Nilesh has consistently invested in knowledge sharing — from coaching consulting teams at TechnologyOne to building and mentoring high-performance teams at Niltech. He actively contributes to public professional discourse via LinkedIn thought leadership on ERP best practices and enterprise solutions. In 2024, he personally led an educational outreach initiative taking Queensland Reds players to Suva Grammar School in Fiji — demonstrating that his commitment to education and mentorship extends well beyond the workplace.
Cross-Industry & Cross-Cultural Depth
Nilesh has delivered enterprise consulting services across diverse industry sectors — including local government, finance, non-profits, sport, and higher education — and across multiple national jurisdictions (Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Malaysia). This breadth ensures that his vocational knowledge is transferable and contextually rich, enabling him to add real-world value for vocational students across a wide range of organisational settings.
Relevance to VET Training Products
The 11 units of competency identified represent current, industry-endorsed training products at Diploma and Advanced Diploma levels within the ICT and BSB training packages. Nilesh’s lived experience maps directly to the elements and performance criteria of each unit, not merely their general subject matter. His practical knowledge of real enterprise projects gives vocational students access to current, applied context that enriches and extends what qualified trainers teach in the classroom.
